What Can Help You When You Feel Empty?

What can help you when you feel empty?

It is a difficult feeling to explain, but one that clings to our soul tightly. A person can have it all and yet feel a deep hole inside. Feeling empty is thinking that our existence has no meaning, despite the fact that our surroundings show the opposite.

There are people who try to fill that void with love, with food, with alcohol, loading their social agenda, dedicating more time to their hobbies or mashing themselves in the gym. They feel defeated, their strength falters and remembering that “emptiness” causes them immense damage. If they had to choose a target to define the void, it would be unbearable.

And it is that the emptiness is unbearable because it is incomprehensible, because everything reminds us that we feel a need for something that we are not able to determine.

The difficulty of explaining the void

Manifesting this lack is as difficult for those who feel it as it is for those who are informed of it. It is a feeling that the person who suffers can hardly explain and that is why it is very difficult for the people around him to understand.

Scientific studies link it to causes associated with depression, a disconnection of the prefrontal system with the limbic system is presented as the neurobiological hypothesis.

When feeling empty, it  seems as if a series of negative emotions decided to ally, gain strength and complicate our life. Demotivation, disappointment, dissatisfaction, anguish, boredom or sadness appear. And little by little they manage to take over the person.

In addition,  commitment is avoided, distance is placed with the people in the environment, any type of responsibility is avoided and the feeling of insecurity grows. A true vicious cycle from which it can be very difficult to escape.

Is it possible to stop feeling empty?

The fight against emptiness is not easy at all. To be caught in its clutches is to have the feeling that we are adrift, immersed in a sea of doubts. You can decide to let yourself be overcome by this feeling or to take control of your destiny and fight against that emptiness that anguishes you.

To do this, we must begin the task of knowing and accepting ourselves. We must dive inside ourselves, identify the factors that cause this accumulation of negative emotions to remedy them. Externalizing what we feel and talking about what torments us is a good way to begin to heal our emotional wounds and stop feeling empty.

Ask for help, we don’t always have all the tools we need to solve our problems. Asking for help does not mean being weak, but having the ability to realize that we need someone to deal with our problem.

Value what you have, it is not about being conformist, but about accepting reality as it is. Focus on what makes you feel good, enhance your virtues and try not to let yourself be dominated by your defects. Be aware that perfection does not exist and that each of us is unique and unrepeatable.

You must learn to value what makes you feel comfortable, what makes you enjoy and feel alive and jump for it, experiment and investigate everything you are capable of doing. Your life has a meaning, although there are times when you cannot see it, it is there, waiting for you to discover it.
