The Whole Heart Does The Right Thing Without Waiting For Anyone To Look

The whole heart does the right thing without waiting for anyone to look

The whole heart will always do the right thing even if no one is looking. He does not need public or praise for his good deeds, in his signature of beating he considers that integrity is above all an exceptional value, a need to live in harmony with what our own conscience dictates.

Some say that integrity is that endangered trait that is no longer seen much in these modern societies. That the rectitude of character and the impeccable, noble and kind soul no longer abound in our works and institutions. Now, far from worrying about the ideals of others or looking for screens where we can reflect ourselves to find inspiration, the most important thing is to be honest with ourselves.

Confucius, the renowned Chinese thinker, defined the whole person as a “superior being”, someone endowed with great strength of spirit for putting his ideas into practice and later, preaching to others what he really does.

With this image we can see that more than an “attachment” to a sense of universal justice, there is a necessary connection with oneself, with the courage to be congruent with what we feel and later do. We invite you to reflect on it.

Behavior with integrity, an obligation but also a personal right

It is enlightening to see that in Latin “integer” means “whole” and that from this image derives the conception of an entity that has not been damaged or broken,  that has not lost its integrity at any moment. Aristotle himself, for example, also defined upright behavior as a quality, as an inner breath that is directly linked to our will to do the right thing, without the need for anyone to see us.

So far, we have been able to verify that in all these definitions there is a clear personal component. Now, we are sure that you yourself have ever experienced the clear feeling that your own integrity has been violated, to the point of doing or saying certain things that you did not feel. :

  • Our education or the bond we establish with our family can make us feel that our rights are being attacked on more than one occasion, by forcing us to do things that we do not feel. In which we do not believe.
  • The same happens at the couple level. Factors such as manipulation or emotional blackmail are hedges with thorns into which we often fall, thus losing part of our integrity. Until we finally react.
  • The dynamics that are sometimes established in work environments are a clear example of this violation of the integrity of the workers themselves. Performing tasks that are not wanted or that are not seen as legal, feeling exploited but not being able to react for fear of losing one’s job, are undoubtedly very common aspects.

We all have the obligation and also the right to be of integrity. Because your own self-esteem is after all that concordance between acts and feelings, between desires and actions. If third parties break this subtle balance, we can get hurt. Therefore, we must never forget it: a whole heart requires a great deal of courage.

Since we already know that the whole heart is related to self-esteem, let us therefore take into account this series of dimensions with which to defend this exceptional quality:

  • Act every day in such a way that when you get to bed at the end of the day, you don’t have to regret anything you have said, done or not done. Be consistent in every step you take and in every act you demonstrate.
  • The fact that personalities lacking in ethics and an upright spirit rise up around you should not discourage you, and even less encourage you to imitate them. Be the light in that quagmire of barren hearts. Be your own example, your voice calm.
  • Defend your integrity as your own life. Set limits, put up walls who induce you to do or say something you don’t believe in. Never stop recognizing yourself in the mirror every time you look at yourself. .

Be the best example for your children, because integrity is not learned from books. Integrity is observed, felt … And above all, it defends itself.
