Children’s Talents Locked Up In A “for Your Good “

Children's talents locked in a "for your good"

Talents are those intellectual capacities or abilities that lead us to develop some activity with special skill. When we say that someone has talent, what we mean is that they are very good at what they do and besides that, that they are passionate about it and that they are capable of putting their whole being into it.

When we are children, our elders can quickly observe our most innate talents. There are children who do not stop drawing, others run and jump, others are passionate about observing insects …

When we are little we believe at face value everything that our environment transmits to us. We are innocent beings, with little capacity to decide what we want or do not want to do with our lives and finally, many of us fall into the trap of cultural and social imposition, losing ourselves.

School, as we know it, is part of a system configured with a specific agenda, common to all children. In it, tests are carried out that evaluate the ability of the little ones to perform in something that perhaps does not interest us the least. A philosophy, which in addition to being somewhat unfair, is a specialist in muzzling talents.

On the contrary, it is in what he is not interested in or does not do well where we put him support teachers or private classes. Isn’t it partly a great absurdity?

“It’s for your good …”

We cannot deny that both parents and educators want the best for children and their good intentions are always present. The fear that your child will not be able to develop a promising future or turn him into a “ person of benefit”  is sometimes so great that what we achieve is to demotivate the child and lead him on a professional path that, far from making him happy, is likely to end. hating.

Now, as adults, many of us don’t really know what we like and what we don’t like. We have put the automatic pilot: school, institute, university … Now what? When we have to enter the world of work, it turns out that we realize that it is not our thing, that we have been trained in something we are not particularly good at or that we simply do not like what we do.

If we are lucky enough to realize all this relatively soon,  perhaps as adults we can remedy it and begin to develop those talents that were imprisoned in our souls, but that are longing to come out again.

Many people wait to retire to return, like when they were children, to do what spoils their spirits : live in nature, do crafts, learn music … But it is truly a pity that they have not been able to enjoy a lifetime of it because of the fear of not being able to live a “dignified life” as that little voice recorded in our subconscious told us.

Cultivate the talents of our children and if we can, also ours

The best gift that as parents we can give our children is to sincerely value their talents. Every person is born with a gift and that is where parents must support the little ones. Stop getting mad because your kid is a junk  and won’t stop jumping and running all over the place! Perhaps it is time for you to sign him up for a sport where he can develop those skills.

When a child realizes that his parents support his abilities, his self-esteem skyrockets. Children are always pending the approval of their parents and need it to be sure that what they like is okay.

We do not want children to stop studying and learning other things that can be valuable to their lives. All learning, well imparted, always adds up. But we must know how to appreciate and value his deepest acuities in a more special way and urge him to improve in them, to challenge himself and overcome himself  and… why not, to try to live from it.

On the other hand, if you are reading this article and you have felt identified, perhaps it is also time to bring out your talents again. Forget what they will say, because surely something will say: “That is useless!”, “It has no future!”, “It is very difficult to earn a living with that!”, Etc …

What happens is that we are not used to being governed by long-term hedonism and we give up too soon, almost always influenced by our environment. You still have time to develop your talent and show the world everything that lives within you, everything you have to give and contribute.
