I Like The Simple: A Hug, A Thank You, A “take Care Of Yourself “

I like the simple: a hug, a thank you, a "take care of yourself"

I like the simple: a hug, a thank you, a “take care of yourself.” I consider myself a faithful admirer of simple people, because for me, they are the most beautiful, those who are guided by common sense, by their intuition and by that heart that knows no artifacts.

It is curious as well as inspiring to know that today, both personal development approaches and in the field of large organizations, it has become fashionable to “rescue” the value of simplicity. In fact, many marketing and advertising experts have a motto that almost never fails “keep it simple and something will happen.”

Antonio Machado said “that it is typical of men with small heads to attack everything that does not fit in their heads.” It is undoubtedly a good example to describe these types of personalities for whom simple things do not make sense. They confuse the simple with “the simplistic.” Now, simplicity has nothing to do with the naive and even less with the foolish.

In reality, this concept contains a great power that we are hardly aware of.

The power of simplicity, the power of emotions and intelligence

Let’s remember for a moment one of the most impactful commercials on television. We were in 2001 and the BMW house broke the mold with the ad “I like to drive”. In it, the physical characteristics of the product and its technology were put aside to speak exclusively of the sensation that driving produces.

One hand was enough. A hand that went out the window, that flew and flowed while appealing to that universality of emotions and feelings that we have all experienced at some time with this same act, so common in childhood. There was no need to see the car, the imprint was already masterfully created.

This is where the power of simplicity is inscribed by way of example. However, this announcement was in itself an act of bravery on the part of the SCPF agency and its creative directors. They, like any other person who wishes to appeal to the value of the simple, the elemental and the power of emotions, is often reproached for the following:

  • Whoever practices the value of simplicity is a “simplist”, someone who does not strive to show something deeper, more sophisticated and elaborate.
  • If you are simple, everyone will be the same as you, you will not be able to stand out.

Now, in reality, when one seeks simplicity, one must side with the best thinkers in the world. Because as Winston Churchill said ” from the intense complexities come the most beautiful simplicities.”

Something that we should bear in mind is that big things happen when small things are done well, and for this, nothing better than practicing the art of simplicity in our daily actions.

Moving forward calmly, being aware of what surrounds us and making use of common sense and intuition are undoubtedly the best strategies to undo every knot of our vital complexities.  We must trust our instincts a little more and be receptive to the voice of the heart.

Sometimes, we let go of a large part of our “life quota” immersed in unsuccessful efforts that completely separate us from what we really want. So, remember that complexity should not be admired, it should be avoided, because the art of knowing what things to ignore will be the only way that will allow us to find what we truly deserve.

Namely: love, freedom, integrity and personal fulfillment.
