To realize

Each person reacts differently to experiences in life, and each has a perception of them. In addition, it often happens that most individuals go through these experiences without being fully aware of what they are experiencing. Realizing what you are going through is an essential part of the process that undoubtedly leads to getting to know yourself better. In addition, it makes it more enjoyable and more consistent.

It may happen that situations are experienced in which, to avoid certain suffering, consciousness is put aside. However, the emotional responses will still be there in a certain way, and a day will come when healing will require realizing your own experience.

From an emotional and cognitive point of view, the human being is exceptional. He is capable of collecting and learning from a multitude of experiences, positive and negative. This makes us able to face other challenges or problems that appear, but to do so properly it is essential to have properly managed everything we have experienced. And, for this, realizing what has happened, realizing what you have felt and what has changed in you, is the only thing that will allow you to be prepared. In addition, in pleasant situations it will be essential to know how to enjoy every second.

What does it mean to realize ?

To realize it means to understand, understand, become aware or notice what happens to us. Normally we walk in automatic mode, even  airplane mode , and we do not even notice what happens to ourselves. The consequence of going like this is that in the end we relate, with others and with ourselves, in a superficial way, without going deep. Not going deep with yourself means not knowing yourself.

Being aware of your own feelings leads to being more honest, also with others. To communicate better and to take responsibility for one’s own actions. It also affects how we relate to others, it will put aside reproaches, blame and grudges.

In short, realizing it causes each one to have control of their thoughts, feelings and, therefore, of their life. Allowing to advance, change and grow.

What can you do?

Automatic mode, as the name suggests, is activated by itself. It is up to us to deactivate it and become aware. For this, the key is to connect with what we are living, here and now. Also be aware of what is going on around you and how it affects the interior.

To do this, you can do some exercises:

  • Meditation . It is par excellence the tool to become aware of the here and now. Through it, an attempt is made to train the mind to regulate itself and have a greater perception of one’s own body and mind.
  • Relaxation exercises . When we relax our attention improves, even interoception. That is, the ability to perceive the signals of the body itself. Relaxing also clears the mind and improves our ability to understand what is happening to us without getting carried away by wrong thoughts or emotions.
  • Think about past experiences. Analyzing situations with perspective can help us to assimilate what caused certain emotions and thus, in the future, it will be easier to identify it.
  • Learn to identify and classify emotions. Experiment and detail each effect of the different emotions on oneself. What makes you feel, what do you think … will help you to verbalize them better and become aware of feelings.
